51. Cauchie House
This house and studio, designed and built by Paul Cauchie for himself, is one of the most unusual Art Nouveau buildings in Brussels. Almost all the facade and some of the interior walls are covered in sgraffiti. Threatened with demolition, the house was listed in 1975. The restoration of the sgraffiti at a time when this technique had almost been forgotton served as a template for future restorations.
